NEW YEAR, NEW LOOK - LET'S TALK ABOUT HAIR

Happy Monday, Everyone!

Let's talk about hair . . . Something that is forever changing in fashion and that I think many of us get tempted by to change through life.

I happen to have very fine, blonde hair, but it grows like a weed!

So, I like to donate it.  I gave 8" to women and children with cancer through Pantene's Beautiful Lengths foundation last time because I love giving back and untreated blonde hair is in high demand.

You can see my Before and After pictures in My Big Chop for Pantene Beautiful Lengths post.

Truth be told, once you make a change, sometimes you want to wear it shorter and sometimes you want to have the length back for variety or to create a nice updo.

A good friend of mine, who is a successful model, has trouble growing her hair long. She usually turns to extensions to help and they often add them for her on set for a shoot.

Therefore, no matter what your hair troubles or hair texture may be, you can always find a way to create a new look.  Whether using hair clips to create a bob with longer hair or extensions to create more lucious locks, something I think we all want from time to time, you can do so affordably.

Just remember, no matter what, always have fun, it's only hair and it will grown back!

LOOK OF THE DAY: AUDREY HEPBURN-ESQUE FEATURING DRESS LILY + PROMO CODE

Happy Monday, Fashionable Friends!

I hope everyone in the United States had a safe and yummy Thanksgiving shared with loved ones.

I'm in our Nation's Capitol, Washington DC, and wanted to share my look under $100 that I recently sported. I am no Audrey Hepburn, but it reminds me of her in the all black and ankle pant.

It would be perfect for work or an evening at the theatre with an added statement necklace.  I think a different shoe would kick this look up a notch, but a classic black heel always works.

It features some of things I received from Dress Lily, an affordable online shop that was kind enough to send me items of my choice to try out for all of you.

I'm in love with the fitted cut of the Tan Puffy Coat, which is as pictured online and quite warm, but please note that their sizing runs quite small, so be sure to size up! For reference, I'm wearing a medium in the coat and could have gotten a large.  If unsure, I'd stick to jewelry, shoes and accessories.

Items not pictured in this look are the Black & Gold Tie Necklace, which I love and featured in a recent post here and many of you liked over on my Instagram.

Along with a pair of Taupe Button Embellished Knit Boot Cuffs, I've loved this look since it began and have used knitted fingerless gloves to achieve the same look in the past, seen here.

See my entire look with full details below, and get an additional 15% OFF + FREE Shipping using the Promo Code DL15 through December 3rd!

LOOK OF THE DAY: ELEGANT FALL - FEATURING ITEMS FROM ZAFUL + PROMO CODE

Happy Thursday, Blogland!

I'm here with a Look of the Day featuring items from Zaful, a super affordable online shop.

They offer a variety of clothing, shoes, bags, accessories and more at a price that allows you to buy more for less, and they were so kind to send me a couple items to review.

First up, a Black Faux Leather Jacket for under $20.  I chose this jacket due to the draping in the front and the jacket does just that, but is not quite as weighted as it looks in the picture online.

That said, I didn't expect it to be high quality based on the price, but as a basic staple it is nice enough and the fact that it is faux leather makes it waterproof, which I love, and it does still fall beautifully!

Next up, their Cream Irregular Hem Sweater that is MUCH higher quality than I expected!  It is one of the softest sweaters I own, has a lovely weight and thickness to it with the perfect amount of stretch to give it a nice shape and added comfort.

I believe it is equivalent to something you would find at Anthropologie, Theory or any other high end store, but at a fraction of the cost.  It is a must in my book, and I highly recommend it!

Plus, it comes in additional colors! I love it so much and think the quality is far better then the price or it appears in the pictures that I'm thinking of ordering it in another color.

This shop is worth checking out, and if you Refer A Friend and Get $20 OFF, link with details below. Either way, Get 15% OFF using Promo Code: ZFVEVP01 and Happy Shopping! :)

QUICK LAUNDRY TIPS AND DETERGENTS TO KEEP YOUR CLOTHES LOOKING THEIR BEST

Happy Thursday, Everyone!

You all know that I don't believe you need to spend a lot to look nice, it's more about how you put your look together.  Yet, how you wash your clothes can be key in keeping each of those items looking new, bright an full of life for longer.

I have been using Downy fabric conditioner as a laundry softener since I graduated from college and moved into my first New York City apartment at the age of 22.  Fifteen years later, I'm still using it because it works and the April Fresh scent leaves my clothes smelling Fresh & Fab, love it!

As for detergent, I've used a number of them over the years, from Tide and Arm & Hammer to non-name brands, but was recently introduced to Molly Suds.  Aside from their super cute and clean packaging, which is what drew me in, it truly is one of the most gentle laundry powder cleaners I've tried.

However the reason that Molly Suds came about is an extremely touching story, and I'm all about ways that I can help and make a difference, no matter how small. Plus, they are offering my readers 25% OFF using Promo Code WISECHOICE25 to give them a try!

So, how can you affordably help keep your clothes looking their best?  Below are 5 quick step by step tips to help you do just that easily and without spending a lot.

What tips do you have?  Share them in the comments below!

Tip 1: Follow Directions

The care label will let you know the best way to wash each garment: water temperature, cycle speed (or hand-wash), and more. Learn more about reading a manufacturer’s care label.

Tip 2: Turn Clothes Inside Out

Let agitation take its toll on the insides of your garments, and help preserve the colors with which you fell in love in the first place.

Tip 3: Wash Clothes in Cold Water

Even if the care label calls for warm or hot water, cold water is your best choice for helping protect a garment’s color. Warm water makes fibers more prone to releasing dye to the wash water.

Tip 4: Use the Gentle Cycle

Usually used for delicate items, the gentle cycle agitates and spins, well, gently. Using the gentle cycle means you significantly reduce abrasion to your garments.

Picking a gentle detergent like Molly Suds laundry powder will also help keep the washing delicate.

Tip 5: Use a Fabric Conditioner

Downy® fabric conditioner lubricates the fibers in your clothes. This reduces abrasion and, as a result, reduces dye loss. Downy also helps prevent pilling, which helps your garments hold on to their original colors and keep their fresh appearance—for a brighter-looking you.
