MUSIC: FORTUNA BY ROSI GOLAN IS OUT TODAY

Happy Tuesday, Everyone!

Life, work and volunteering has really been taking me away from blogging in the past few weeks, with all wonderful things, but I assure you that I am still her and hope to get back to my usual blogging routine as soon as possible.

Anywho, I wanted to let each of you know that the lovely and very talented Rosi Golan has a new EP album Fortuna out today and available over on iTunes!
Fortuna by Rosi Golan exclusively on iTunes - Buy Now

I can honestly say that her music is something I truly enjoy, listen to and love the lyrics within. Not only now, but for years prior to ever having gotten to work with her or get to know her as a person and artist, as I have over this past year.

I hope you are all having a lovely start to the week and thank you again for your patience!  I post daily on Instagram if you want to keep up with everything in my life via pictures between posts here! :)

SATURDAY SAYINGS: LIFE, PEOPLE COME AND GO AND KEEPING AN OPEN MIND

Happy, Happy Saturday, Blogland!

I created and pulled a few quotes this week about life, how people can come in and out and the importance of keeping an open mind and moving forward! :)

Have a lovely weekend, and I hope to be back on my usual schedule by next week!

CHARITY AND LIFE: MY BIG CHOP FOR PANTENE BEAUTIFUL LENGTHS

Happy, Happy Monday, Everyone!

I have been a busy bee traveling, working and just catching up on life, so, I apologize for my absence on my blog, but have enjoyed keeping up with everyone via Instagram!
(logo via Pantene)

It had been on my list of wants in life to donate my hair to those with cancer, and last week, I made the chop! Yay! :)

I donated 9" to Pantene Beautiful Lengths, a wonderful charity organization that makes wigs, from 8" or more of hair, for women with cancer and it felt fantastic! I even felt a little extra pep I my step knowing I was helping someone else!

Recently, Minette from Learn With Minette, and a wonderful friend of mine from blogland, donated her hair to the same charity, and her new, shorter hairstyle looks adorable on her!

If any of you are interested in doing the same, HERE is how you can help! Once your hair is long enough, it really is as easy as 1, 2, 3, but makes a huge difference to someone, and that is for me what life is all about!

I'll be back on Wednesday with pictures from my apple picking adventure, including a look of the day and my fun new ring from Chicnova!

LIFE: THE 12TH ANNIVERSARY OF 9/11 - A SIMPLE REFLECTION

Freedom Tower, NYC - September 11, 2013

Side Note: Only after I took this picture, did I notice a bird had flown gracefully into view.

Each year, on this date, I can't help, but reflect.  However, I'll keep the post this year simple.

As some of you know, in September of 2001, I had just moved to NYC for the first time, unaware that the world would be changed forever, just 11 short days later.

12 years later, I am living in NYC, once again, right where the Twin Towers used to stand.  I still miss them, but am proud to see NYC standing tall on the anniversary of a day we will never forget.

There have been a few instances in my life, which have reminded me that life can be taken from you in a moment, and this was one of them.

It is so important to appreciate today, and let those you care about know that you care about them.

I think the impressionable moments in my life, where the life of someone I cared about was almost taken away, have made me tend to say too much, too soon, and express my feelings a little deeper than some feel comfortable hearing, especially, those newly entering my life.

I only realized this about myself in recent weeks.  However, it is a part of who I am, and I think all any of us can do is be ourselves.   Being open, honest and vulnerable, is the only way to truly let others into your life.  Those meant to be in it will stay, and the others will keep walking.

The things we go through in our life, like the events of 9/11, shape us. Hopefully, we can learn, grow and move forward a little stronger than we were before.

That said, it doesn't erase the past, and the older we get, the more of these moments we collect, each reminding us that we are alive.

In the end, this is what life is all about. So, live it, enjoy it and be the best version of you possible!

PICTURE SHOW AND LIFE: A CHARMING DAY IN RED HOOK, NY - THE SIGHTS

Happy, Happy Monday, Blogland!

I first discovered Red Hook the day before Hurricane Sandy hit New York, put the town underwater and sadly shut it down for some time.

We are coming up on 1 years since it devastated so many people, and only now are most of the places fully up and running again.  However, it only made the wonderful spirit of the locals that much stronger!  I don't think I have met a more quality group of people or been as welcomed in my life!

Some friends and I walked back to Red Hook this weekendwith only the plan of heading to lunch and walking around a little, but 12 hours later, we were still there and had discovered new friendships.  Although we came as strangers to the locals, we left as family...it is an experience I'll never forget!

Red Hook is filled with so much history, unique charm and character, but it really is the people that make the area what it is...and makes for the perfect TV or movie setting, almost like out of a book!

I tried to capture it all through my eyes and my camera lens, which was fun, especially, since you just never kew what magic might exist around each corner.

Manhattan is off in the distance, and yet, you couldn't feel further away from the buzzing city.  It takes you to a different era and away from the things in life that may be weighing heavily on your mind.

Thank you to all the wonderful people of Red Hook whom we met on our adventure...enjoy! :)

Brooklyn Crab

Everything from the crab to the BBQ is truly delish, plus, you'll feel as though you are on vacation while being surrounded by great people and a lovely laid back atmosphere!

Fairway Market

Easily one of the greatest grocery stores you will ever come across with the most incredible variety of fresh produce, cheeses from around the world and more...you might just get lost and move in, but you won't go hungry!

Hometown Bar-B-Que

Stop in and see Billy, a genuine, kind-hearted and incredible teddy bear of a guy! The locals invited us out to the grand re-opening of it this weekend with endless BBQ, sausages and more and it as delish.  Complete with a great bar, the best variety of music I've come across and a flair that makes you feel as though you've ended up in TX!

Red Hook Bait & Tackle

Give Barry, my new favorite person in this world, a BIG old hug for me, and set yourself down for a refreshing beer on tap, excellent company, fun music and an ambiance so unique, you need to see it for yourself!

Red Hook Winery

Try a wine tasting of 6 different generous wine tasting pours for only $12 or you can do 3 for $6  in a lovely setting with super friendly people, and just out front makes you feel as though you've gone back in time with an old car parked outside this historic brick building.

Steve's Authentic Key Lime Pies

Right when you are ready for a little sweet treat, try one of their super fresh pies or tarts at one of their colorful, almost candy land-esque, picnic tables. Or if you lack a sweet tooth, as I do, go for the limemade and enjoy a refreshing drink with the perfect blend of tart and sweet!
