PICTURE SHOW AND LIFE: A CHARMING DAY IN RED HOOK, NY - THE SIGHTS

Happy, Happy Monday, Blogland!

I first discovered Red Hook the day before Hurricane Sandy hit New York, put the town underwater and sadly shut it down for some time.

We are coming up on 1 years since it devastated so many people, and only now are most of the places fully up and running again.  However, it only made the wonderful spirit of the locals that much stronger!  I don't think I have met a more quality group of people or been as welcomed in my life!

Some friends and I walked back to Red Hook this weekendwith only the plan of heading to lunch and walking around a little, but 12 hours later, we were still there and had discovered new friendships.  Although we came as strangers to the locals, we left as family...it is an experience I'll never forget!

Red Hook is filled with so much history, unique charm and character, but it really is the people that make the area what it is...and makes for the perfect TV or movie setting, almost like out of a book!

I tried to capture it all through my eyes and my camera lens, which was fun, especially, since you just never kew what magic might exist around each corner.

Manhattan is off in the distance, and yet, you couldn't feel further away from the buzzing city.  It takes you to a different era and away from the things in life that may be weighing heavily on your mind.

Thank you to all the wonderful people of Red Hook whom we met on our adventure...enjoy! :)

Brooklyn Crab

Everything from the crab to the BBQ is truly delish, plus, you'll feel as though you are on vacation while being surrounded by great people and a lovely laid back atmosphere!

Fairway Market

Easily one of the greatest grocery stores you will ever come across with the most incredible variety of fresh produce, cheeses from around the world and more...you might just get lost and move in, but you won't go hungry!

Hometown Bar-B-Que

Stop in and see Billy, a genuine, kind-hearted and incredible teddy bear of a guy! The locals invited us out to the grand re-opening of it this weekend with endless BBQ, sausages and more and it as delish.  Complete with a great bar, the best variety of music I've come across and a flair that makes you feel as though you've ended up in TX!

Red Hook Bait & Tackle

Give Barry, my new favorite person in this world, a BIG old hug for me, and set yourself down for a refreshing beer on tap, excellent company, fun music and an ambiance so unique, you need to see it for yourself!

Red Hook Winery

Try a wine tasting of 6 different generous wine tasting pours for only $12 or you can do 3 for $6  in a lovely setting with super friendly people, and just out front makes you feel as though you've gone back in time with an old car parked outside this historic brick building.

Steve's Authentic Key Lime Pies

Right when you are ready for a little sweet treat, try one of their super fresh pies or tarts at one of their colorful, almost candy land-esque, picnic tables. Or if you lack a sweet tooth, as I do, go for the limemade and enjoy a refreshing drink with the perfect blend of tart and sweet!

PICTURE SHOW: NYC HAPPY HOUR SUNSET BOAT CURISE, ROCKWOOD MUSIC AND LIFE

Happy Labor Day, Everyone!!!

Just a quick week wrap up in pictures...it's been a busy week on so many fronts and one of my best friends from college was up visiting from North Carolina for the weekend!

Pictures of us are on her camera, so, those will be coming later, but pictures from our adventures were on mine for the most part via my Instagram.

We went on a sunset Happy Hour cruise along the East River, which was fun and got to see all the NYC landmarks in all their glory on a beautiful evening.

Among other adventures all over the city in 2 very full days, from Washington Square Park to the Financial District by the Freedom Tower, Little Italy, SoHo, The Village and more!

I promise some affordable fashions, reviews and DIY will be on their way soon...I just need a little time to get things sorted out and in order in my life first!

Thank you for your patience!
