MARGARITA AND MEXICAN FOOD FUN AT VELVET MARGARITA CANTINA

So sorry for the less frequent postings from moi. I've been on the road heading towards Albuquerque, NM where my lovely parents, uncle, younger sister, her husband and my unexpected love are meeting for Thanksgiving together!

I have been trying to compose some blogs en route to post once I have an internet connection, and the time to upload each for you!

Last week, before hitting the road, my parents and uncle who were out in CA and I headed to Velvet Margarita Cantina, a hip, dark and very unique Mexican restaurant in the heart of Hollywood.

My unexpected love had purchased a Groupon for it before heading off to grad school that we weren't able to use, so, he gave it to me to take my parents out with, and I have to say it was fantastic!

I took a few pictures from our evening there enjoying some huge and very yummy dinners, all of which include a large salad, rice, beans, potato salad (which I know seems strange for a Mexican place, but it was delish) and extras along with your main meal for a flat rate of $15, which was great!

Plus, they have the best, strong and super tasting margaritas for only $5...say what?!? :)

Fun Velvet Margarita Cantina menu.

Chandelier reflected in the mirror and some fun velvet paintings.

Velvet artwork in the reflection on our table.

Elegant chandelier at a Mexican restaurant!

The different and very fun decor!

$5 margarita on the rocks that was quite possibly the best I have ever had!

Red corn chips and salsa that also come with a bean dip and hot sauce!

The very tasty and good sized salad that comes with every dinner meal for the $15 flat rate price.

My chicken tacos...delish!

My mother's giant burrito!

Dad, Moi, Mother and Uncle after a very yummy meal!

If you are in the LA area, I would highly recommend this spot for some tasty, authentic Mexican grub, and can assure you it will be an experience!

Take note that the outside of it will look closed, since the concept was to be like a night club that meets a restaurant, but it is really fun inside with cool lighting, lots of blue velvet and unique fixtures. For a reference, it is located right next to the oh so popular and also wonderful food place called Kitchen.

Enjoy and let me know if you have been there before, and if so, what you thought!

I'll check back in soon, but hope you are all enjoying your week, and for those of you in the US that you have a Happy Thanksgiving ahead!
