PUMPKINS, AND PUMPKINS, AND PUMPKINS, OH MY!

I hope you all had a very Happy Halloween weekend!!!

I realize this post is a little after the fact, but my friend and I went pumpkin picking and carving on Saturday before Halloween, and I thought I would share our little pumpkin filled day with you!

While there, this guy said he wanted to take our picture by the giant pumpkins, and he just kept snapping them...the progression of them kind of make me laugh to look at! LOL!

Civilized.

Silly.

Not quite ready.

Scary.

Every year growing up, my parents would take us to pick out pumpkins and we always picked out little ones and some mini corn for our bedrooms, so, seeing them remind me of these wonderful childhood memories! :)

After picking out our pumpkin, which was a beauty, if I do say so myself...hehe...it was time to start the pumpkin carving and put our artistic skills to the test! :)

Since our other friend who loves "Twilight" wasn't able to join us, we decided to do the vampire carving just for her, and I think it turned out pretty well! Can you see it?!?

One of the best parts of pumpkin carving is roasting pumpkin seeds, something my dad always did with the seeds growing up by adding a little salt, and to this day I still enjoy eating some after the pumpkin carving is done!

Pumpkin picking, carving and roasting sure works up quite an appetite! ;)

OK, so, not really, but we will pretend it does, and is why we decided to go to the Coral Cafe for some good, old, unhealthy grilled cheese comfort food...and it was delish! Plus, I really wanted some onion rings with ranch dressing on the side! :)

I would love to hear what you carved into your pumpkins and what fun pumpkin picking or pumpkin roasting memories or stories you have!

Oh yes, and my extraordinary parents always send me goodies every holiday and a cute card to go with it. This year they got me a super festive haunted house table runner and spooky centerpiece for future Halloween parties! :)

I'm such a lucky girl! :) Anywho, thanks for joining us on this little journey, and I hope you are all having a Happy November so far!

  19. Woah, those pumpkins ARE huge! I get a couple little pumpkin for my room too :) It's the perfect way to get into the Halloween/fall spirit.
Yum, pumpkin seeds are one of my favorite fall foods! Question for you though, do you just pop the whole seed in your mouth or do you split the shell with your teeth and only eat the inside? I'm curious because I had a huge arguement with my mom about which way is the "right" way to eat them. haha so I'm curious what you do. :)
Side note, you need to try them with cinnamon sugar instead of salt sometime. They are delicious!

  20. Yum I love roasted pumpkin seeds! Every year I lightly drizzle them with olive oil, salt and parmesan cheese and toast them until they're lightly golden brown-I wish I could find whole pumpkins in my area year round just to make the seeds!
