AFFORDABLE ONLINE SHOPPING: ETSY JEWELRY SHOPS I LOVE AND GREAT GIFTS

Happy Columbus Day, Blogland!

With the holidays creeping up quickly, and faster than we may even realize, I wanted to start bringing your affordable gift ideas.

For me, Etsy has always been a great place to find little treasures and gifts at a wonderful price, while also supporting other creative people, usually on a smaller scale, which I love.

So, this week, I want to feature a few of the Etsy shops I've discovered, which offer delicate, pretty and affordable handmade jewelry with personal touches that make each not only lovely, but special as well.

I decided to contact the owners of each shops and find out a little more about them to share with you as well.  Sometimes it is nice to know more about the person behind the shop and from where they gathered their inspiration.

Creating Simple Everyday Pretty™ since 2010

My parents are both incredibly creative people and they gave my sister and I every opportunity to share in their passion. I started sketching when I was 7 years old. I worked with every medium I could get my hands on. Charcoals, pastels, paints, pencils, and I eventually got into sewing. I would spend hours and hours filling up my sketchbooks with my art. It felt to good to see my thoughts on paper.

My lifelong goal was to create a business that would allow me to work from home and be able to raise a family of my own. I wasn't sure how I was going to do that but it was #1 on my list. In 2005, I met my future husband-to-be. He never pushed me into a mold, but let me choose my own path.

The journey to get to where I am today was not an easy one. I definitely put in a lot of time and effort. I certainly paid my dues through lots of trial and error. Which is why originality is such a huge thing to me. Don't copy and paste from someone else. Be your own person, do your own thing and you will see that will a little thought, beautiful things can happen.

Thanks for all the love my friends!!!

Rose gold and me, a love story...

Of course rose gold jewelry isn't my first love - but it is my current passion. I remember falling for silver back in 8th grade. As the years went on I fell in & out of love with silver, white gold, yellow gold and then this past year I met rose gold. It's not like it sounds, I mean...I was serious about all of them. Really!

To rose gold I say "Olive Yew!", and I mean it. Please take a moment to look in my shop and I think you will too!

Of course I still create many beautiful designs in gold and silver. I love to mix the three up. Together.

Don't judge me!

Inspired since childhood, I explored my own creativity and found designing jewelry gave me much pleasure. When I was a child, most weekends were spent visiting fashion galleries and jewelry stores with my mother and aunt. My mother made me custom dresses and accessories that were the envy of my friends! I have always admired my mother’s great sense of style.

I started making jewelry in 2003. In the beginning, I simply made jewelry for myself. It was not long after that, I started getting requests by friends, relatives, co-workers who asked me to make them jewelry. Through an ambition to share my designs with others, Yameyu began.

I live in the San Francisco Bay Area. When I'm not making jewelry, I am often spending time riding my bike, shopping the local farmer’s markets, practicing yoga, or working on DIY projects.

I hope these offer some new shops for you to explore and possibly fall in love with, as I have!
I think it is wonderful that there are places online that allow those of us who are creative to shine, follow their passions and grow a business doing what it is they love most while reaching others around the world.

Have a great start to the week, and I'll back on Wednesday with more pictures!
