REDISCOVERING MY LIFE PASSIONS AND A PAN AM FLASHBACK
This is a little bit of a different post for me, and although style and design are the main themes of this blog, I like being able to incorporate bits of little old me and my life into it as well. Thanks to each of you it has been openly welcomed, which I love and truly appreciate! ♥
With my birthday around the corner...yikes...I was reflecting, which I often do, and thinking about things in life I once hoped to accomplish along with things I still hope to or continue to accomplish. Since a cold snuck up on me in the form of a sore throat and runny nose yesterday, I have been home and had a little more time on my hands and catching up on blogs and things.

Anywho, I was over on The Bright Life blog reading her recent "captured" post, which lead me to discover another blog The Wonder of it All where I viewed pictures from her recent trip to Ghana and I was left inspired and remembering what some of my goals/wants/dreams in life were and still are in some cases.
Honestly, some are silly little, fun things and some are deeper, more meaningful, harder to achieve passions of mine. Sometimes it helps to write them out so you can remind yourself of them and have something to try or continue to work towards.
I suppose it is never too late to work towards them, but it is easy to get away from them and find yourself veering in a different direction. I am without a doubt someone who jumps from thing to thing and thought to thought quite often!
That said, I decided to write out a list of some of those things I once wanted and hoped to accomplish in my life, and even though some have passed due to age and opportunity lost, some are still attainable if I wish to "make it happen," as they say! :)
So, feel free to read them if interested or make a list of your very own! OK, here we go...
Clearly a few of the above are things I once wanted, but have since changed, evolved or past, as far as what I want at this age or could accomplish. However, I still thought I would include them since they were a big part of what I once thought might be a part of my life.
For example, being a flight attendant back when flying was classy and fun! Especially after hearing wonderful stories from my mother who was a stewardess for Pan Am in the late 60's into early 70's as seen below!
My mother as a Pan Am stewardess sitting inside plane engine.
(Fun Fact: She was assigned to first class on the 2nd 747 flight to ever take to the skies from JFK to Heathrow.)
You can see more of my mother HERE in a film, she was dubbed over in German, where she was chosen to play a Pan Am stewardess after the director of the film, Willy Bogner, took note of her working his Pan Am flight to Germany.
Honestly, it makes me tear up every time I watch it seeing my beautiful mother back then doing what she loved so much, which was being a part of the Pan Am team during what she says were the best years of her life, and especially with the music in the background and what the lyrics are saying!
Unfortunately, that world of flying has changed so much and I no longer want that, but often think about what it would have been like then during its prime, along with all the other little things that took up space in my mind as a little girl!
Hopefully you didn't mind this non fashion related post of my thoughts and life and thank you for letting me put it out there! Check back tomorrow for Part 2 of our engagement pictures, you can check out Part 1 here if you missed it, and have a relaxing rest of the day! :)

i have ALWAYS wanted to be a Disney Princess--specifically Belle--in fact my husband's cousin just told me, totally unprompted, that she thinks my calling in life is to be a Disney Princess! Haha-probably won't happen--but I might just have to rent that big yellow dress for Halloween one time, just to do it!!
ReplyDeleteI love that quotation, too. Your list is quite impressive. I keep thinking I should make a "bucket list". I'm getting to the age where I need to think like that. It is so great that you have that video of your mom. I enjoyed watching it.
ReplyDeleteI love your list of goals and your sweet tribute to your Mom.
ReplyDeleteLoverly photo of the really good old days of aviation, if only it was still like it was then. Just a point of accuracy though, the engine your mother is sitting in is attached to a much more important aircraft in history than the 747, it's a Boeing B707, magnificant old thing.
