TRAVEL DIARY: CROSS-COUNTRY ROAD TRIP - DAY 3 AND THE CORN PALACE

Hello Again, Blogland!

Early Saturday morning, we set out on day 3 of our road trip from Wisconsin to Chamberlain, South Dakota, the Mount Rushmore state and birthplace of my Marvelous Mother. Woo hoo!

On our drive there, we saw fun rock formations, stopped along the Mississippi River in Minnesota, the Show Me State, and even stumbled upon a cute cheese and homemade fudge shop on the perfect day.

We are spending a couple days in South Dakota to visit spots where my mother grew up, like Al's Oasis, which will always remind me of my time visiting when I was a kid. Especially, the giant buffalo statue that stands tall out front of it.

Now, even though I've been to South Dakota numerous times over the years, I wanted to revisit many of the iconic spots it has to offer, like the Corn Palace, Mt. Rushmore, Deadwood, Wall DrugBlack Hills and the Badlands, to capture them on my good camera, which will be captured in my fun South Dakota Travel Diary post covering Day 4 & 5 next week.

Now, without further ado, let's get to the pictures from my road trip to South Dakota and the Corn Palace in Mitchell, enjoy! :)
My nephew loves neon green, so, when this car was in front of us on I-90 W, I had to snap a picture, fun!
Random rock formations along I-90 W before the I-90 W and I-94 W split.
Walking along the Mississippi River in Minnesota on a truly beautiful day.
Overlooking the Mississippi River in Minnesota.
Stopped in Minnesota to get gas and there was a cute place with free cheese samples,
and I never turn down cheese!
Just me, 2 cows and a rooster before grabbing some cheese in Minnesota.
This adorable little guy was outside the cheese shop, which also sold homemade fudge.
Cheddar of all flavors and seasonings.
The sign asked, "Got Cheese?" I left with my answer, "why, yes, I sure do!"
It made for a yummy snack for on the road.
South Dakota state line, we made it!
Posing by the adorable corn on the cob statue that welcomes you to the one, and only, Corn Palace!
